God Uses Everyday Things,
Even a Pool Table,
To Teach Us About Him.

Supporting Scriptures for "Days of Creation:"
Genesis 1:1-31
Genesis 2:1-4

Can you find the fish and birds
in the photos to the left?

In our first two Billiard Bible Studies we learned how an everyday thing such as a pool table can teach us about God and how the white cue ball can remind of us God, the creator of heaven and earth.  Since we are talking about the Creator and His creation, let's review the order of God's creation and how the color of the white cue ball is related.

On the first day God created light.

On the second day God created sky and water.

On the third day God created land, sea, and vegetation.

On the fourth day God created the sun, moon, and stars.

On the fifth day God created the fish and birds. (Did you find these in the photos above?)

On the sixth day God created animals and man.

On the seventh day God did not create anything.  God rested.

But God did not rest because He was tired.  God rested because His creation was complete and it was not only complete, but He declared that it was good.

Remember our color white?  Did you know that the color white comes from combining all of the colors in the light color spectrum together similarly to how God combined all of the elements of light, sky, water, land, sea, vegetation, sun, moon, stars, fish, birds, animals, and man to create our universe?  Can we really think of anything that God missed?  Look around the room that you are sitting in.  Everything that you see has come from something that God created.  Isn't that incredible and amazing!

So when we look at the white cue ball, we can be reminded of God, the completeness of His creation, and the goodness of the world in which we live.

"DAYS OF CREATION"
STUDY QUESTIONS:

Question 1

On the first day God created light.
Who else is associated with light?

John 8:12 - "Jesus said to the people, "I am the light of the world.  If you follow me, you won't be stumbling through the darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life."

Question 2

On the second day God created water.
Who else is associated with water?

John 4:10-14 - "Jesus replied, "If you only knew the gift God has for you and who I am, you would ask me, and I would give you living water."  "But sir, you don't have a rope or a bucket," she said, "and this is a very deep well.  Where would you get this living water?  And besides, are you greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us this well?  How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his cattle enjoyed?"  Jesus replied, "People soon become thirsty again after drinking this water.  But the water I give them takes away thirst altogether.  It becomes a perpetual spring within them, giving them eternal life."

Question 3

On the third day God created vegetation.
Who else is associated with vegetation?

John 15:1-5 - Jesus said, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch that doesn't produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.  You have already been pruned for greater fruitfulness by the message I have given you.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful apart from me.  Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches.  Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit.  For apart from me you can do nothing."

Question 4

On the fourth day God created the sun.
Who else is associated with the sun?

Revelation 1:16 - "The Son of Man held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from his mouth.  And his face was as bright as the sun in all its brilliance."

Question 5

On the fifth day God created birds.
Who else is associated with a bird?

Matthew 3:16 - "After His baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on Him."

Question 6

On the sixth day God created animals and man.
Who else is associated with animals and man?

Revelation 7:17 - "For the Lamb who stands in front of the throne will be their Shepherd.  He will lead them to the springs of life-giving water.  And God will wipe away all their tears."

John 1:29 - "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look!  There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"

Luke 2:10-12 - "but the angel reassured them.  "Don't be afraid!" he said.  "I bring you good news of great joy for everyone!  The savior - yes, the Messiah, the Lord - has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David!  And this is how you will recognize him:  You will find a baby lying in a manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth!"

Question 7

On the seventh day God rested.
Who else is associated with rest?

Matthew 11:28-30 - "Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you.  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light."

Question 8

Consider how creation holds man accountable to God.

Romans 1:20 - "From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made.  They can clearly see His invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature.  So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God."

Question 8

Consider how creation holds man accountable to God.

Romans 1:20 - "From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made.  They can clearly see His invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature.  So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God."

Question 9

As we live our daily lives,
we put many things between ourselves and God.
What does God say that is in His creation that could separate us from Him?

Romans 8:38-39 - "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from His love.  Death can't, and life can't.  The angels can't, and the demons can't.  Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away.  Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Question 10

Why is the Sabbath a day of rest?

Ezekiel 20:12 - "And I gave them my Sabbath days of rest as a sign between them and me.  It was to remind them that I, the Lord, had set them apart to be holy, making them my special people."
